'' I ALSO WANT'' Planet Hollywood
'I ALSO WANT' PLANET HOLLYWOOD Guess hoo, hoo,
hoo's glamming it up with Cindy Crawford, Demi Moore and Vanessa
William?
HDB granny Liang Po Po is. Singapore's biggest
movie star of the moment has made it to Planet Hollywood's Hall
of Fame, the first local star to do so.
Last Saturday, her handbag and clothing were added
to the 170-strong collection of memorabilia at the Liat Towers
restaurant. Her passage to stardom was cast in cement in a hand-printing
ceremony on the same day.
So Singapore's most famous grandmother (the character
is created and played by comedian Jack Neo) is the latest addition
to the machinery that weaves together the magic of celebrities,
food and movies. It's all part of the name-game that theme outlets
cash in on.
Never mind that Liang Po Po is not in the league
of Bruce Willis or Sylvester Stallone. And neither is she Hollywood.
" Liang Po Po is big in Singapore, a local celebrity
whom everyone knows. We want to give this place a local twist,
and will look out for other local stars in future," said a Planet
Hollywood spokesperson.

fans, celebrity hand-print cast in cement and 'membership' among
the luminaries at Planet Hollywood's Hall of Fame.
